Local people also lost their lives during this war. Many became victims when the German submarines torpedoed the ships they were working on. Others were active in the defense.

We also need your help. The official list now contains 160 names of people who died during the war. We want to give them a face! If you have a photo of one of these victims, we ask for you to bring it to use so we can honor those who lost their lives on our ‘Give them a face’ board.

We also direct attention to the 15 Chinese men who were killed here in Curaçao, in a clash with the local police after they were on strike protesting their dangerous work on the ships.
